Junior hockey covers children through the following grades and ages:

After reading the information below, if you are interested in receiving a registration form for your child then please email the following information to juniors@mtedenhockey.org.nz:
Your child's name, date of birth, year at school, parents names, your family postal address, email address, phone contacts. If we have vacancies, then you will then receive a form to sign, and detailed information by post.
Once you have completed and returned your form to us, then you just need to come along to the first muster for your age group. Our biggest intake of players is in the 5-8 year olds (minis and 6th grade). In the other grades, our existing players have priority of placement into teams.
Saturday morning hockey begins in Term Two 28th April 2012
Mt Eden junior hockey teams practice times (starting mid-March at Mt Roskill Grammar turf):
Monday at 6pm: 8th Grade , Monday at 7pm : 11th Grade
Tuesday at 6pm : Minis and 6th, 6.30pm : Youth Boys, 7.30pm : Youth Girls
The minis/6th grade teams will practice indoors in Term 2 & 3 at the EGGS gym, 5.30pm or 6.30pm
This season the Junior Teams will comprise of: (Club policy is to keep players within their age groups)
6th, 8th and 11th grade games on Saturday mornings can be played on any astro surface from way out west (at Henderson), or out to Howick, but generally our teams will be allocated games near central Auckland but not always!
We practice and play WET OR FINE on Astroturf. Junior hockey, as a rule, is NEVER cancelled.
The Primary Grades will begin their two rounds of games in Term 2 There is usually no training or Saturday matches during school holidays, and hockey will finish at the end of Term 3. The games will take 45 minutes on turf.
A handbook will be issued before the first competition game and you will receive the draw for the whole of each term. Minis will usually be 12 noon at AGS turf. The emphasis is on fun, participation and enjoying progressing with new skills. Although we try to grade our teams, sometimes coaching requirements and family/friend groupings are considered.
We cannot offer more teams or continue to excel until we have more volunteers. The Club has resource material, training gear and is prepared to pay coaching course fees for parents who are prepared to give-it-go.
We loan you a uniform for the season, although you will need to buy socks. Socks will be available from Just Hockey.
Shin pads and Mouthguards are essential items (as well as a stick!). We play always on artificial turf - there are turf shoes,but running shoes are fine.
We recommend "Just Hockey" in Enfield St, phone 623 1048 (They sponsor Junior Hockey and provide the Junior Handbook with you will be given). Each team has a set of balls, cones and a first aid kit which is available at practice and games.
These are based on us covering the cost of turf practices, training gear, goalie gear, coaching costs, and the AHA fee which is charged to cover Saturday turf and NZHF fees. The AHA tries to recover the costs of running the sport and astroturfs.
Fees for 2012 (this covers Saturday hockey (term 2 and term 3), loan of uniform, and 20 weeks of coaching) will be:
Mini: $160 6th Grade: $170 8th Grade: $180 11th Grade (Intermediates): $190 Youth: $220
The coaches and administrators of Mt Eden Junior Hockey are volunteers.

Its that time of the year when trial dates are being set and planning for the 2012 season is underway.
