2011 JUNIORS Season WRAP UP
This year we had 4 x Youth teams, 13 Primary teams, 17 teams in total
All our coaches and Administrators continue to give their time, free of charge, hopefully putting our fees within the reach of most families - there is a vast amount of experience and knowledge with these coaches, and your children are the beneficiaries.
A lot of work goes on behind the scenes, usually by a small band of volunteers, all multi-tasking on several voluntary tasks at once! Our successful Club would not exist without their efforts. I am also encouraged, in reading the coach’s reports, by the number of new parents who stepped in and helped – managing, umpiring, organising. This always helps to convince our experienced coaches that they can do yet another year!
Once again our players featured in Auckland age group teams, and this is a credit to all their coaches. Also, in 2011, a bunch of our previous Youth Players progressed into our P1W’s team, and into the P2M’s team – a good sign for our development and future as a Club. Mention should also be made of Kieran O’Donnell’s efforts in being selected for the NZ Tiger Turf U18 squad. Kieran is a goalie, and has played for the Club for 9 years.
Our Stu Ramage award winner in 2011 , Bradley Dennehy is a year 9 player who stepped up to coach our beginners 8th grade team. He has also umpired the team, is a player in the Youth Boys on a Friday night, and has been umpiring theYouth Girls teams, and filled in for the Youth A Boys team. Our Club is enriched by players like Bradley, putting some time back to the sport.
2011 concluded with a well attended Junior prizegiving on 13th September in the Mt Roskill Primary quad.
